EWIS Senior Engineer (m/w/d)
Salary: CHF 140’000 - 150’000 per year
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, OR 20+ years of aerospace experience in electrical harness design and routing.
- Proven experience leading EWIS programs and holding DOA or equivalent signatory responsibilities.
- Expertise in electrical/avionics systems, grounding and bonding, and interior systems.
- Strong knowledge of EWIS development, safety, and certification processes (AC 25.1701-1, AMC 20-23, ARP4754).
- Experience approving and checking EWIS installations, assemblies, and detailed parts.
- In-depth knowledge of HV DC power distribution (1000 V / 300 A and above), connectors, harness safety, and HV challenges (segregation, corona, arc faults, partial discharge, health monitoring).
- Awareness of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3).
- Hands-on experience with lithium batteries, motor drives, and high-power electronics.
- Strong CAD skills; working knowledge of PDM/PLM, change control, build sequences, and form-board drawings.
- Deep understanding of harness design principles, fatigue, wire choices, and static/kinematic conditions.
- Fluent in English with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- High level of self-reliance, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support EWIS project management activities including coordination, reporting, planning, risk management, and cost estimation.
- Develop and continuously refine EWIS system architecture, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical concepts.
- Define, manage, and document EWIS requirements and ensure compliance with certification standards.
- Design, optimize, and validate aerospace wiring harnesses across their lifecycle, ensuring manufacturability, reliability, and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineers and contribute to process improvements in manufacturing, integration, and testing.
- Support concept-to-production system development, addressing design, manufacturing, and assembly issues.
- Prepare certification documentation and interface with regulatory authorities.
- Apply knowledge of aircraft-worthy standard parts and electrical standards (AC43.13-1B, ATA 20/100, S1000D).
- Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, sharing expertise with colleagues, and supporting team growth.
- Participate in related projects or tasks as needed in a dynamic start-up environment.
